It seemed to be fixed, but we woke up this morning to the smell again. I called about it right away and they said they’d send a maintenance crew to fix it. Worst of all is the sewage smell emanating from the bathroom. (At this price point, every hotel room should have a lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom.) None to borrow, so I ended up awkwardly using a tiny pocket mirror balanced on the ice bucket. Impossible to put on makeup or do my hair. Totally inadequate lighting in the room and bathroom. Located close to California State University San Marcos, Lakehouse Hotel and Resort provides 18 holes of golf, a marina, and a poolside bar. The iron for pressing our clothes for the wedding was broken. But… two good-sized closets, two few hangers. At first, I wondered if the noise from the pool, which is really close to the room, would bother us. Outside, there are two Adirondack chairs and a small table for reading and relaxing in the shade.
Our first-floor room has a king bed - I’m in it right now - and faces the pool. So was the $40 daily resort fee offset by the $50 daily credit. But when I asked at the pro shop, the answer was, “We don’t give lessons here.” He did say that I could find out about yoga classes at the front desk, but when I asked there they said, no yoga here. A sign at the courts mentioned pickle ball lessons, which I would have wanted to take. No information, though, about hours and amenities. We were here for a wedding last night and stayed three nights. A short drive away, there’s every kind of restaurant you can imagine and lots of shopping opportunities. There are two restaurants - one facing the putting green - and a snack shop. There’s a generous pool area- good musician playing live music and taking requests on Saturday afternoon - boating on the lake, golf, a sports center with pickle ball, paddle tennis and tennis courts and a fitness center, You can borrow a bicycle or a kayak. The hotel itself is situated in a charming neighborhood that’s surrounded by picturesque hills. This 4-star San Marcos resort is smoke free. A fitness center, a library, and a terrace are also featured at Lakehouse Hotel and Resort. The weather is perfect - warm days and cool evenings. Event space at this resort measures 3388 square feet (315 square meters) and includes a conference center. This property is located in one of the loveliest parts of California.
